Mayer’s Relation

    Julius Mayer derived the relationship between molar specific heat of gas at constant pressure and molar specific heat of gas at constant volume for an ideal gas.

    Mayer’s relation shows that the molar specific heat of gas at constant pressure is greater than the molar specific heat of gas at constant volume.

    Application of Mayer’s relation:

    1. Heat transfer analysis.

    2. Ideal gas thermodynamics.

    3. Power generation.

    4. Material science.
