Reynolds Number

Reynolds number is the dimensionless quantity which is used to determine the flow of the fluid is laminar flow or turbulent flow.

The concept of the reynolds number was proposed by the scientist George Stokes in the year 1851.
And latter, Osborne reynolds performed the experiment on the fluid dynamics in pipes, which popularized the use of reynolds number.

Reynolds number is named after Osborne Reynolds.

Reynolds number is denoted by Re. And it is calculated as the ratio of inertial force to the viscous force.
