In linear charge distribution, charge is continuously spread over the length of the conductor, and the cross-sectional area of the conductor is negligible compared to its length. To describe this, the physical property, linear charge density is used, which is defined as the amount of charge per unit length. Linear charge density, describes how charge is distributed, along a one-dimensional line or ring. It is represented by Lambda. The formula of linear charge density is, total charge divided by total length. Its SI unit is Coulomb per meter (c/m).
