Anaximander was the first actual theoretical physicist, at least from a philosophical concept standpoint. In his day with no equipment or background knowledge of quantum physics this should be considered an extremely impressive level of thought indeed. He talks of eternal, imperishable, inexhaustible and undergoing variations and change. He should be credited with at least some of the history of quantum mechanics and physics at the atomic level.
