Interferometry is a technique in which waves are superimposed to cause the phenomenon of interference. The technique is used in the fields of astronomy, fiber optics, seismology, spectroscopy and other fields. astronomical interferometers are widely used in science and industry for the measurement of microscopic displacements, refractive index changes and surface irregularities.
