Arthur Holly Compton was a physicist who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1927 for his 1923 discovery of the Compton effect, which demonstrated the particle nature of electromagnetic radiation.
Compton scattering is the scattering of a photon after interaction with an electron.
Some energy of the incident photon is transferred to the electron.
What is meant by an electron at rest?
The electron rest mass is the mass of an electron as measured when its speed is zero relative to an observer.
