Sir George Paget Thomson: Physicist and Nobel laureate in Physics. Recognized for his discovery of the wave properties of the electron by electron diffraction.
Diffraction is a technique used to study matter by firing electrons at a sample. It is similar to X-ray and neutron diffraction. Diffraction is most commonly used in solid state physics and chemistry.
