The Quantum Revolution (Article Summary)

Quantum mechanics has revolutionized our understanding of atoms, molecules, chemistry, and even biology. The quantum revolution began in 1900 with Max Planck’s explanation of the blackbody spectrum. The next breakthrough occurred in 1905 when Einstein explained the photoelectric effect. A third breakthrough occurred in 1913 when Neils Bohr devised a quantum mechanical model of the atom.

The quantum revolution began in 1900 with Max Planck’s explanation of the blackbody spectrum, and avert the ultraviolet catastrophe.
