    Current density or electric current density is defined as the amount of electric current that passes through the unit cross-sectional area of the conductor.

    Current density formula:

    Current density (J) = I/A

    I = Electric current
    A = Area of crosssection

    The current density formula is used to determine the amount of current in a specific portion of the conductor.

    Current density in terms of electric field and conductivity.

    J = σ E

    J = Current density
    σ = Conductivity
    E = Electric field intensity.

    The SI Unit is Ampere meter ^-2.

    Dimensional formula is [AT^-2].
